Josefa Maes

Josefa “Josie” Maes, 84, passed away Friday, November 14, 2019.

Josie was born October 3, 1935 in Chapelle, New Mexico to Petrolino Garcia and Bernardo Garcia.  She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  Josie enjoyed cooking and taking care of her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Maes; grandson, Dino Maes; granddaughter, Cheyenne Bustos; and two sisters, Bennie Salazar and Oralia Montano.

Survivors include her children, Joann Baca and husband Cruz of Killeen, Texas, Aggie Bustos and husband Danny of Sante Fe, New Mexico, Tony Maes and wife Debbie of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Becky Maes and John of Washington, Willie Maes and Yvette of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Mike Maes and Lori of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Bernadette Maes of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Teresa Vargas and husband, Will of Houston, Abie Maes and wife, Angela of Pecos, New Mexico; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Cruzita Alires, Berice Archuletta, Sofie Pocheco, Frances Ortiz, Elaine Kennison, Della Garcia, Susie Archuletta; and a host of extended family.
