Joyce Fern Dixon, 89, of Borger passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Amarillo. Memories of her life will be at a later date.
Joyce was born May 11, 1934, in Pampa, Texas to Homer and Thelma Irene (Key) Warren. She was a member of Church of Christ in Borger. She was a teacher in Borger, Huber, Plemons, Morse, and Denver City. She was cited as among the nation's outstanding educators by Grade Teacher Magazine, a professional journal.
Joyce was an artist. She loved to travel to Europe and do missionary work in Mexico. She took her grandchildren Trae and Taryn on an Alaskan cruise. Her grandson Dietrick spent most of his summers playing games with family members. Dietrick was a joy to Joyce.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, granddaughter Taylor and brother, Homer Lee Warren. Surviving is her son Monty Dixon and wife Dr. Amber Dobler Dixon of Canyon, Texas; sisters Freda and husband Wes Balentine of Borger and Kay Blankenship of Adrian, Texas; grandchildren Trae Dixon, Taryn Burmingham and husband Jordan, and Dietrick Dixon; great grandchild Whitney Burmingham.
