Juan Antonio Sotelo, Sr., 74, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Graveside services will be held 11 am Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Juan was born May 4, 1947 in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico to Guadalupe Sotelo and Valentina Palacios Sotelo. He married Paula Garza on September 22, 1969 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Juan did farming and ranching most of his life, but he did enjoy the work he did for the City of Spearman where he retired after 10 years of service. He identified as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed tending to his roosters, goats and horses. He never met a stranger, was generous sometimes to a fault, and a jovial personality. His love for and pride in his family was always front and center.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Valentina Sotelo; wife, Paula Sotelo; son, James Daniel Sotelo; grandchildren, Marcos and Audrey; brother, Jose Ma.; sisters, Rosa Maria, Ernestina; and daughter-in-law, Kendra.
Survivors include his sons, Juan Sotelo, Jr. and wife ReBecca of Amarillo, Joe Sotelo of Amarillo; grandchildren, Michael, Victoria, Aaliyah, Miguel; great grandchildren, Emerald, Amethyst; brothers, Pedro Sotelo and wife Juana of Benbrook, Lupe Sotelo and wife Maria of Aledo; sister, Uvaldina Mesa and husband Chinto of Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
