Juanita Nita Welch, 98, died Monday, August 17, 2009 in Amarillo.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hutchison, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Hope at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Juanita was born on April 1, 1911 in Decatur, Texas to Marion and Belle Thompson. She attended schools in Decatur, including Decatur Baptist College. She lived in Electra, Texas for a number of years before marrying Alton Doyle Welch on October 12, 1958. They resided in Borger until his death in 2005 and she continued to reside there until moving to Amarillo in 2008. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Borger. She was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Warren Thompson and twin brothers, Clyde and Claude Thompson.

Nita is survived by sister-in-law - Wanda Welch Armstrong of Corpus Christi, several nieces and nephews - Roylynn Evans of Amarillo, Billy Thompson of Albuquerque, NM, Clyde Thompson Jr. of Flowermound, TX, Jean Winters of Albuquerque, NM, Sue Baulch, Charlotte Elliott of Burkburnett, TX and Shirley Parmelly of Tye, TX.
