Juanna Jo Hale passed on to her place in heaven on the morning of April 4th, 2024.
Everyone called her Jo. Jo bade us farewell at 92 from her home in New Caney, Texas.
Jo was the youngest and last surviving of her immediate family. She was born into the Broadaway family in the town of Panhandle, Texas. Her mother and father - Juanita Rachel and John A. Broadaway came to the Texas panhandle to make their life. This they did while raising two children: Older brother John T. and Juanna Jo on the family farm East of Panhandle in Carson County.
Jo graduated from Panhandle High with aspirations for a career in music as a vocalist. Jo sang at First Baptist in Panhandle and on the radio in Amarillo before attending North Texas State, then West Texas State where she graduated. There, Jo met and married Mose Von Hale. They moved to Norfolk, Virginia when Mose joined the Navy where their first child, Mary Lynn, was born. Out of the Navy, they moved to Dallas Texas where Jo and Mose became teachers. Here their second child, Larry Von, was born.
Jo and Mose pursued their lives in education in Illinois, New Mexico, then back to Texas. Their children, Mary and Larry had grown, married and started their own families when Jo and Mose parted ways in 1985.
Jo moved to New Caney, Texas near Mary Lynn where she purchased her home and finished her career in education teaching at New Caney Elementary.
Jo took great pride in her children and their families.
Mary married Greg Elam and had three children: Aaron, Joellen, and Mary Elizabeth. Aaron Elam married to Jenny Burchfield in Houston has two of her grandchildren, Oli and Elliott. Mary Elizabeth married to Matt Kardash in Montreal have Ezra. Joellen is married to Jack Conway in Los Angeles. Mary now lives in Houston since Greg passed in 2021.
Larry married Penny Stice. Their son Evan married to Lacy Enderle, live in Frisco, and have Finley and Georgia. Penny and Larry live in Plano.
Jo made her way through this life teaching, singing, and sharing her gifts knowing that she had a place with the Lord in the next life. We take comfort in her passing and imagine her reunions with family and friends already departed.
We thank you for your kind thoughts, words, and prayers for Jo.
