June H. Adams, 97, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, March 25, 2023. She was a resident of Fritch since 1956.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the funeral home in Fritch.   In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a gift to Connect Community Services, PO Box 533, Fritch, Texas 79036.

June was born January 9, 1926, on the family farm in Eliga,Texas in Coryell County to Richard Andrew Hill and Addie (Cathey) Hill.  She married Raymond Fontaine Adams on June 1, 1956, in Hamilton, Texas, the following week they moved to Fritch.  June has been a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch since 1956, she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  She worked for many years as a dietician at the Sanford Fritch elementary school where she was known as the lunch lady by the kids!  June had various jobs including working as an enumerator for the 1970 US Census, in home childcare, and later worked with her husband at the Borger News Herald.  She enjoyed a daily root beer float, playing cards, bird watching, collecting rocks, and embroidering quilt tops for all her grandchildren. She loved baking. No one made a better hot roll or chocolate pie! June had a green thumb; her yard was gorgeous.  June was always up for a trip; she travelled to all 50 states, and to multiple foreign countries.  She was never one to turn down a good western, especially if it starred John Wayne. She loved reading Louis L’Amour books.  June was an active member of the TOP's club in Fritch where she held various offices and was an avid walker. Her greatest joy her family. Some of her most treasured memories with her kids and grandchildren were camping, playing cards, baking cookies, and sleep overs. She leaves a tremendous legacy of love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Addie Hill; husband, Raymond Fontaine Adams; siblings, Willie Hill Marshall, Frank Hill, Royal Hill, Jake “JW” Hill, Henry Hill, Dorothy Hill Myers, and Carrie Hill Tabers.

June leaves a lasting legacy into the 5th generation including, Helen Price and Dale of Borger, Barbara Sanders and Gary of Fritch, Ray Adams and Marsha of Melissa, Texas, and  Kathy Adams of Fritch; five grandchildren, Joann Bullard and Bryan of Fritch, Gaylynn Calhoun and Shane of Booker, Debbie Talley and Shannon of Monument, Colorado, Bobby Sanders and Susan of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Luke Adams of Melissa, Texas; twenty four great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Flippen of Evant, Texas; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Adams Brown of Gatesville, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; along with extended family and cherished friends.
