Kate Marie Nelson, 84, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 in Amarillo from injuries sustained from a pedestrian motor vehicle accident which occured on August 30, 2008.BRBRServices will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch with Rev. Calvin Winters, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Love at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.BRBRMrs. Nelson was born on May 24, 1924 in Geronimo, Oklahoma. She grew up west of Lawton, OK and attended grade schools in Rush Springs and Cache, OK. She had lived in the Borger - Fritch area since 1946. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother, grandma and sister. She loved her family dearly. She married John Melvin Nelson on September 5, 1946 in Lawton, OK. after a short courtship of six weeks by exchanging letters. When Marie and her husband moved to Fritch, the streets were dirt and the livestock was running freely. They were one of the first couples to establish the Fritch vicinity. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.BRBRShe was preceded in death by her parents, L.E. Austin and Hattie Plaxico, husband, Melvin and son Jimmy Nelson in 2004, two granddaughters, Courtney Moman in 2000 and Chandra Carter in 2002, two brothers, Nick and Lee Austin and one sister, Helen Pierce.BRBRShe is survived by her daughter Marilyn Reeves Greenhouse and husband Tim of Fritch, brother - Kearl Austin and wife Phyllis of Guthrie, OK and sister DeVera Foster and husband Bill of Burkburnett, and five grandchildren - Trish Burris husband Chad of Fritch, Shonda Nelson of Lake Worth, tina Boudreaux husband Jimmy, Theresa Nelson and Rodina Nelson all of Ft. Worth, nine great-grandchildren - Katelyn, Breanna Riley Burris of Fritch, Gerald Sandra Gozodowski of Lake Worth, Tesla Boudreaux,Tommy Ashley and K.C. and Brandi Moman all of Ft. Worth, several nieces and nephews. Also her beloved pets, her dogs, Bosley, Chico and Sparkey. Unfortuanately, Bosley also died from inguries related to the accident.BRBRCasket bearers will be Delbert Yandell, Don Yandell, Tommy Foster, Charles Nelson, David Nelson and Mark Berinti. Honorary bearers will be Tim Greenhouse, Chad Burris, Chad Reeves, Travis Phiefer, Larry Nelson, Billy Dean Nelson and Kenneth Nelson
