Kathy Thompson

Kathy Thompson, 79, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Keeler Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to HutchCares, P O Box 3031, Borger, Texas 79008.

Kathy was born September 26, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Katharine Dorthea and Melvin Louis Olson. She was a member of Keeler Baptist Church. The beautiful red geraniums that filled the front of her house were a reflection of the vibrant, sparkly personality of the woman that lived inside. Kathy was full of life and energy and was known for her kind, sweet spirit. She loved music and enjoyed singing at church in her beautiful alto voice. She was deeply devoted to her family and her church. Kathy was married to the love of her life for 56 years and their love and devotion to each other was an inspiration to their family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mark Olson; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Garcia.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Thompson of Borger; daughters, Kathy Lumsden and husband Ron of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Karin Smith and husband Ronnie of Athens, Texas, Kim Garcia and husband Steve of Borger; six grandchildren, Katie Ledford and husband Brent, Tori Smith, Alyssa Smith, Jason Schneider, Matthew Garcia and Sasha Garcia, Dylan Smith; three great grandchildren, Ashton Garcia, Samantha Ledford, Deegan Ledford; brother, Dave Milton and wife Laurel of Kansas City; and sister, Sharon Phillips of Phoenix, Arizona.
