Well, folks, they just don’t make them like Kelly Dee anymore. Born in Amarillo to Marvin Dee Moore and Betty June Luttrell Moore, Kelly, known to some as Red, others as Ethel (and a few Thelmas thrown in for good measure), made an entrance into this world on December 13, 1956, that would mark the beginning of a life full of love and laughter.

Kelly was the definition of "one in a million," as every doctor she ever saw would tell her. She had a heart so big it was practically its own zip code. Whether you needed a meal, a hand, or just someone to listen (and maybe give you a little tough love along the way), Kelly was your girl. And don't even think about trying to get one over on her! She was stubborn, strong, and loved her family fiercely. But, don't mistake that for anything other than the deepest kind of devotion, because once Kelly loved you, it was for life.

She didn’t just love her own family, oh no. If you were ever lucky enough to be one of her “adopted” kids, you knew you were getting the full Kelly treatment. This meant you were fed like a king and always made to feel like part of the clan. She and Larry, her beloved husband of 50 years, were the center of the family universe, and you could bet your boots if you showed up, you’d be part of the extended crew, whether you’d been officially adopted or not.

As a mom, Kelly was the original multitasker; sewing clothes for her kids (because, of course, she made sure she gave them her best), cooking like a Food Network star, and somehow finding the energy to shuttle kids all over town. She loved nothing more than a bustling house full of noise and laughter — and yes, she absolutely loved feeding the entire neighborhood, because in her world, there was always room for one more at the table. Holiday meals? Absolutely legendary. Christmas sugar cookies? They didn’t stand a chance with those grandkids in the house.

But nothing compared to being called Grams. That was Kelly’s favorite title, and if you were lucky enough to call her that, you knew your life was a little bit sweeter just for being in it.

She was one of a kind; a blend of sass, strength, love, and a sense of humor that could light up a room. We’ll never forget her, and neither will anyone who ever got to experience the warm, welcoming, and real Kelly Dee. Here's to you, Kelly. You’ll never be forgotten, and in the hearts of your family (born and adopted), you'll be forever home.

Rest easy, Grams. You've earned it.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Betty Moore; grandson, Henry Daniel Hopkins; brother, Robert Moore; sisters, Belinda “Sissy” Sims, Hope Hughes and husband Steve; nephew, Cody Sims.

Left to honor her legacy are her husband, Larry C. Lorenz of Fritch; children, Marcy Hopkins and husband Brandon of Fritch, Brandi Kulczycki and husband Jesse of Tolar, Neal Lorenz and wife Kimberly of Littlefield; grandchildren, Garrett Hopkins, Casen Kulczycki, Colby Kulczycki, Hazel Hopkins, Wyatt Lorenz, Cade Kulczycki, Bryce Lorenz, Laney Lorenz; sister, Sherill Trammell and her husband, Rick of Fritch; brother, Shawn Moore of Fritch; sister-in-law, Martha Moore of Canyon; brother -in-law, Gene Sims of Borger; nieces and nephews, Shane Hughes and his wife, Rachel, Gabriel Sims and his wife, Kristal; DeeAnna Treadwell and her husband, James; Matthew Trammell; Wesley Hughes and his wife, Shasta; Dustin Hughes; and a host of extended family.
