LaRoy Hightower, 76, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021.
Graveside services will be held 11 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Tell Methodist Cemetery in Tell, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
LaRoy was born October 12, 1944 in Tell, Texas to Laymon Oliver Hightower and Virginia Groseclose Hightower. His heart was in farming but he also was an owner/operator truck driver. He met the love of his life, Ruth Sims Hart, and decided to make it official on October 16, 2000. LaRoy enjoyed talking on the phone with his trucking buddies, drinking coffee, watching westerns, watching WWE and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn; daughter, LaSonda; granddaughter, Mindy Hightower; brothers, Dan, Bud, Mickie, Babe, Ricky; and a sister, Douf Helms.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Panhandle; sons, Kevin Hightower and wife Bridgett of Dalhart, Jimmy Boen and wife D’Ann Swain of Panhandle; daughters, Brenda Woods and husband Murry of Elgin, Kelly Richardson and husband Jimmy of Dalhart; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brothers, Dale Hightower and wife Marcella of Childress, Tommy Hightower and wife Becky of Childress; sister, Jeanette Whitehead and husband Aubrey of McKinney; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
