Larry Hertel

Larry Joe Hertel, 80, of Stinnett went to be with his Savior on Monday, December 20, 2021.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 10 am Thursday, December 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church Stinnett.  Burial will follow at Stinnett Cemetery.   Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Larry was born on October 5, 1941 in Phillips, Texas to Harold “Red” Hertel and Maxene Downer Hertel.

He married Diane Griffin on August 7, 1970 at Clovis, New Mexico.

Larry was a cowboy, heart and soul.   He loved fishing, and watching his grandkids play youth sports.    His favorite things in life were his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  While working at Phillips 66 he spent his weekends helping in the feed yards at Bovina, Caprock and both 6666’s ranches.     He retired from Phillips 66 in 2007.  He started as a yardman and was working in the warehouse upon his retirement.  Larry was a member of First Baptist Church, Stinnett.

Surviving is his wife, Diane of the home.  Son, Tim Hertel and his wife Donna of Borger;  daughters, Cara Gage and her husband William of Stinnett;  Kayla Lupo and her husband Kurt of Streetman, Texas;  Kyla Yeager and her husband Coby of Stinnett;  Carmen Laird and her husband Jeremy of Colorado;  Carrie  Bruffey and her husband Tres of Lubbock, Texas;  sister Haroletta Couch of Stinnett;  grandchildren, Desirae Lindsey, Samantha, Marcus, Wilson, and Matthew Lupo,  Meagan Turner, Alicia Gage, Tyler Gage, Hunter Hertel, Skylar Hertel, Kristian White, Kaci Gariepy-Deakin and Colten Yeager.

Fifteen great grandchildren and one on the way.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Minton Chatwell Funeral Home in Borger.
