BRLarry E. Okie McAtee, 75, died Sunday, February 11th, 2006 in Amarillo, Texas.BRBRServices will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Panhandle, Texas with Rev. Shayne Raulston, pastor and Rev. David Theel of Borger officiating. Interment will be in the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.BRBRMr. McAtee was born on July 6, 1931 in Carter, Oklahoma and he had been a Panhandle resident for 58 years. He married Ardell Stephens on May 15, 1955 in Colchester, Illinois. He was retired from Pantex after 40 years in assembly. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved serving the Lord, his family, and talking with people about fishing and hunting. He was also a horticulturist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Nola McAtee and his sister, Betty Embry.BRBRHe is survived by his wife, Ardel McAtee of the home, son - David McAtee and wife Kim of Midland, three daughters - Diana Perley and husband, Howard of Amarillo, Cynthia Ackerman and husband, Peter of Portage, Michigan, Cathy Whitt of Panhandle, brother - Jack McAtee and wife, Lanora of Greeley, Colorado, two sisters - Sue Parker and husband Dale of Blackwell, Tx., Ann Loftiss of Cordell, Ok., seven grandchildren - Adam Ackerman, Alex Ackerman, Jacob McAtee, Tabitha Whitt, Austin Whitt, Elizabeth McAtee and Zack Guillot.BRBRCasket bearers will be Austin Whitt, Adam Ackerman, Alex Ackerman, Jacob McAtee, Zach Guillot, and Ben Bichsel. Honorary casket bearers will be the Double Dippers Sunday School Class.
