Larry Petitt

Larry Petitt, 82, of Sanford passed away Monday, July 1, 2024.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2024, in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Larry was born August 5, 1941, to Delbert Petitt and Bessie McNabb Petitt. He married Janice Robertson on July 30, 1959, in Electra, Texas. Larry enjoyed visiting with the Shannon’s Restaurant Coffee Crew and then eating lunch there as well. Larry’s kids and grandkids were his pride and joy, and he leaves a legacy of love, hard-work, loyalty, and orneriness. Larry spent most of his adult life working for Construction Services in Amarillo, Texas before retiring to his home near Sanford, Texas where he spent his time watching deer and turkeys from his patio and finding projects to work on to avoid sitting still. Larry enjoyed many things, but he mostly enjoyed supporting his kids and grandkids in all their endeavors, no matter how big or small. Larry will be remembered as being the hero of the family and will be missed more deeply than words can explain.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Bessie Petitt; wife, Janice Robertson Petitt; grandchildren, Michael Gibbs and Samantha Hart; and brother-in-law, Mickey Rollans.

Survivors include daughters, Carla Adams and husband, Prentis of Sanford, Lawanda Phelan and husband, Dennis of Sanford, Cindy Hart and husband, Jon of Stratford; sister, Dianne Rollans of San Antonio and her two sons; eight grandchildren and their spouses; nineteen great-grandchildren including one on the way; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
