Larry was born September 24, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Leonard Julian Thompson and Beda Matilda Nelson Thompson. He married Kathy Olsen on October 6, 1963, in Minneapolis. Larry was a member of Keeler Baptist Church prior to its closing, and soon found a new church family with New Life Church. He retired from GPM formerly known as Phillips Petroleum in June 2000. Larry was very active in the community through Lions Club, Rotary Club, serving on the board at Pantex Federal Credit Union, as well as the Southern Baptist of Texas Ethic and Religious Committee. He also served on the Golden Plains Community Hospital Board and was instrumental in bringing the new facility to the community. Larry could not have been a more supportive grandpa or great-grandpa. Hot or cold you could find him out at the field supporting his grandkids! The two most important things to him were God and his family. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his family, and he will be deeply missed by them.
