LaVena Deann Herron, 48, of Fritch, died Saturday May, 19, 2012 in Borger.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Fritch Church of Christ with Richard Kasko officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Viewing will be Wednesday in Borger at the funeral home.
LaVena was born July 22, 1963 in Ft. Worth to Willis and LaVerne Jarrell Stroud. She married Mike Herron August 15, 1981 in Borger. LaVena taught eighth grade computer literacy at the Borger Middle School where she has worked for 24 years and she also taught computer literacy at Frank Phillips college part time. Although she received many awards and accolades throughout her teaching career, her proudest achievement was seeing the growth, progress, and ultimate success of her students. She believed that learning was lifelong, and tried to instill that desire in all whom she taught. All Mama Hs children felt the love of Christ through her.
Survivors include her husband Mike three daughters Jennifer Herron, Jessica Mason, and Leah Southern, all of Houston a son Ryan Herron of Borger her father Bryan Vaughn of Hannibal, Missouri two brothers Glen Stroud of Borger, Eddie Vaughn of Hannibal, Missouri four sisters Kanita Ellis of Canyon, Rebecca Ghear of Durango, Colorado, Sharon Hamack of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ruth Pierrson of Santa Maria, California.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a fund at H H Federal Credit Union in her name to help defer medical expenses.
