Leland Pennington

Leland Charles Pennington, 68, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm on Monday, June 20, 2022, in the Minton Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the funeral home.

Leland was born July 29, 1953, in Borger to Pascal Pennington and Betty Ingerson Pennington.  He married Shirl Wagner on October 31, 1988, in Fritch.  Leland worked for Riddles Welding and Machine.   He enjoyed bowling, racing cars, and watching all sports especially the Dallas Cowboys.  Leland also coached youth softball.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Ryan Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Shirl of Borger; sons, Shawn Pennington of Owasso, Oklahoma, James Pennington of Midland; daughter, Danetta Williams of Spartanburg, South Carolina; step-children, Amanda Scouten Bates and husband Bobby of Hastings, Nebraska, Rachel Long and husband David of Del City, Oklahoma, Edward Scouten of McLoud, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Truh Sara Pennington, Liam Pennington, Myla Pennington, Brittney Conner, Mercedes Cortez, Isias Cortez, Yzell Cortez, Brittney Valdez, Nichole Tilley, Corey Tilley, Melynee Tilley, Rebecca Scouten, Stephen Long, Jamyie Johnson; great grandchildren, Blythe Pennington, Dezerey Pennington; great-great grandchildren, Emma Conn, Abigail Conn; two sisters, Nancy Diane Martin and husband Don of Fritch, Margaret Pumphrey and husband Ralph of Borger; and a host of extended family.
