Len Jennings

Lenro "Len" Jennings, 74, of Panhandle passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Panhandle.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Powell of the Calvary Baptist Church of Panhandle officiating, and Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane of Pampa assisting. Burial will follow at the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. The family requests that everyone dress casual.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Lenro Louis Jennings was born June 21, 1942 to Emanuel L. and Juanita (Dill) Jennings in Muleshoe. He later moved to Vega where he finished school.

Len served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 to 1967 where he was a missile-generator instructor/operator. He received an honorable discharge as an E4.

On March 11, 1967 Len married the love of his life Judy Lewis in Groom. He became a member of what was then the First Christian Church of Panhandle where he served as a Deacon. Later he and Judy became members of the Calvary Baptist Church of Panhandle.

Len worked for Richardson Seed Farms before and after his military service. He went to work for the City of Panhandle where he held several offices, including Director of Public Works in 1972. Len was a member of the Panhandle Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, and also a member of the Texas Water Utilities Association where he held many positions.

He loved to take care of yards and trees. Most of all Len loved his family, especially his great grandchildren. He was always ready to help anyone with anything, with a smile on his face and a pat on the back.

Len is preceded in death by his parents; his step father Rob Simmons; grandparents; John and Dovie Seid, and an infant daughter Wendy Lane Jennings.

Survivors include his wife Judy; two daughters, Diana Green and husband Roger, and Angela Jennings, both of Panhandle; his brother Philip Jennings and wife Peggy of Grandbury; four grandchildren, Justin Green, Martin Green, Tina Cummings, Megan Collier, all of Panhandle, and 12 great-grandchildren.
