Leonard Nugent

Leonard Allen Nugent, 67, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 18, 2018 at First Christian Church of Stinnett with Pastor James Stephens officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Leonard was born July 12, 1950 in North Tonawanda, New York to Robert Wilbur Nugent and Edna Elnora Goodwill Nugent. He graduated in Springville, New York Class of 1969.

He joined the Marines in January of 1970. Leonard married Cynthia Jean Baker on October 24, 1970. Together they had four children, two boys and two girls. Jason Nugent of Purcell, Missouri, Clint Nugent and wife Becky of Casper, Wyoming, Jessica Cummings and husband David of Borger, Texas, and Cynthia Meyer and husband Brian (separated) of Borger, Texas.

Leonard moved to Texas in 1979 and worked for Swift Beef Packing Plant as a maintenance man. Later moved to Borger and was a resident for 30+ years, working for G.E. Jones Electric and then as a contractor for the State of Texas.

His biggest interest in life was his family which also included thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one on the way. He enjoyed being around friends and family and helping everyone he could that wanted his help.

Preceding him in death are his parents; four brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cynthia of Stinnett; four children, Jason, Clint, Jessica, Cindy; three brothers, James Nugent of Niagara Falls, Dennis Nugent of Michigan, Terry Collins of Folsom Lake, Wisconsin; two sisters, Sharon Vazquez of Borger and Karen Skinner of Perryton, Texas.
