Leroy George

Leroy George, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Celebration Family Church with Pastor Dwight Kirksey officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.

Leroy was born October 25, 1924 in Centerville, New Mexico to Henry Aubrey George and Henrietta McClellan George. He proudly served in the United States Army. Leroy enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, dice and doing construction work. An avid football fan he like to watch the Dallas Cowboys, and would always
give a little smirk when picking on the Nebraska Huskers.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jewell; son, Kenneth George; daughter, Beverley Whitten; one grandson; and nine siblings.

Survivors include his special friend Frances Latham and her son, James of Fritch; granddaughters, Shawni Wright and husband Jammie of Elm Creek, Nebraska, Sharri Bohlender of Rapid City, South Dakota, Sharla Shafer and husband George of McCook, Nebraska, Isis George Diaz of Miami, Florida; 12 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Ellis of Raton, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
