Lester Tipton

Lester Frank Tipton, 96, died September 19, 2021 in Amarillo.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Cemetery in Sweetwater, OK under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Frank was born December 31, 1924 in Oklahoma Territory to Watson Tipton and Thelma Robinson Tipton. He proudly served his country in the Marines during WWII and he married Betty Jean Gordon on February 16, 1947. He moved to Borger Seventy plus years ago to go to work for Phillips Carbon Black Plant and became a plant operator.  After retirement they called him back to start up Carbon Black Plants in Turkey, Africa and Mexico.  Frank loved to hunt, fish, water ski and was great at growing tomatoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty and three brothers.

Frank is survived by his two sons Doug Tipton and his wife Lana of Borger and Tim Tipton and his wife Linda of Lewiston, Maine, his grandchildren Amy Melvin and her husband Tim, Chad Tipton and his wife Jaime and Sean Tipton and his wife Tanya, his great-grandchildren Cassidy, Brayden, Kalin, Taylor and Hayley, his special caregiver Rosa Martinez and many nieces and nephews.
