Lewis W. Buddy Burns, Jr., 66, died Friday, July 16, 2010 in Gray County.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Stinnett with Ronnie Ferguson, Pastor of the Cowboy Church of McLean officiating. Interment will be in the Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Buddy was born on March 27, 1944 in Dumas and had lived in Gray County since 2000, moving here from Stinnett. He was the ranch manager at the JLB Ranch and was a member of the Cowboy Church in McLean. He was in construction for eight to ten years and was a cowboy for 40 years. He married Suzy Nichols on Jun 18, 1966 in Del Rio, Texas. He was a deacon at the church and loved his church. He was a hunter, fisherman, loved cowboying having been a cowboy for three quarters of his life, was an artist and enjoyed cattle, bull riding and roping.
He was preceded in death by his son Bo Burns on October 27 2008, his parents Lewis Jewell Burns, Sr. and two sisters Glenda Burns and Linda Farmer.
He is survived by his wife Suzy Burns of the home, daughter Ginger Burns of Seattle, WA, daughterinlaw Kelly Burns of Stinnett, motherinlaw Ruth Nichols of Amarillo, brothersinlaw David Nichols and wife Amy of Amarillo, Robert Farmer of Pahrump, NV, sister Pat Monden and husband J.A. of Stinnett, sistersinlaw Pat Fredrickson and husband Feller and Peggy Nichols all of Amarillo, two grandchildren Trae Burns and Cody Burns of Stinnett.
