Linda Maria Ray, 74, of Fritch gained her angel wings surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 7, at First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch with Pastor Dan Brunson, officiating. Cremation entrusted to Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Linda was born on June 8, 1948, to Erline Marie Owsley and Purlyn “Jerry” Lewis Hodges in San Angelo, Texas. She was later adopted by her grandparents, Grace Mary and Clell Owen Owsley in 1956. She attended Amarillo elementary schools and Caprock High School.

She married Don Ray on Nov. 19, 1981, in Guymon, Oklahoma. Together, they became a united family with their children, Billy, Traci, Bobby, Donnie and Kellie. After seven years of being “empty nesters,” they welcomed their granddaughter, Brooklyn in their home on Dec. 24, 1999, and raised her as their own.

She began her Asarco (Amarillo Copper Refinery) career in the Materials Handling Department at ACR plant where she retired after 33 years in 2010.

Her hobbies included bowling, fishing, water skiing and spending family time at the lake. She and Don started D & L Crafts and spent many hours building, painting and traveling to craft shows.

Linda was known by many names, Linda Lou, Mom, New Nanny, Grandma, Mom Mom, Sister and Aunt. No matter her name, she was the very best.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Ray; brothers, Dan Owsley and David Housley; brothers-in-law, Ed Scifres and Jim McCluskey; daughter-in-law, Cindy Ray Davis; and great-grandson, Jayden Blassingame.

She is survived by her children, Billy Blassingame and wife Terri of Wolfforth, Texas; Traci and husband Clint McMinn of Fritch; Bobby Ray and wife Adria of Lubbock; Donnie Ray and wife Delillah of Paris, Texas; Kellie and husband Mark Welch of Littlefield, Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and husband Tyrell Bidwell and children Lexi and Zander of Fritch; Brittney and husband Patrick Fort and children Avery and Eason of Shady Shores, Texas; Brianna and husband Landon Friemel and children Madisyn, Masyn and Mason of Wildorado, Texas; Brad Ray and wife Randi and children Kinsey and Sidney of Amarillo; Joe Paul Montgomery and wife Cassi and son Sterling of Amarillo; Whitney and husband Chance Bingham and children Caden, Rylen and Brecken of Matador, Texas; Samuel Welch of Dallas, Texas; Brandon Blassingame and wife Jessica and son Braylon and bonus daughter Jayla of Amarillo; Brent Blassingame and wife Brandy and son Nythaniel of Levelland, Texas; Brett, Bradley and Brendan Blassingame of Amarillo; Seth McMinn and fiancé Lillie McNeill of Lubbock; Sean McMinn and girlfriend Halle Lytal of Amarillo; Sara and husband Carson Spitler and son Cason of Amarillo; and Dallin Ray of Lubbock; sisters, Cheryl Scifres and Tina Mack of Pflugerville, Texas; brother, Jim Owsley and wife Karen of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.; sister-in-law, Terri Owsley of Fort Myers, Florida.; brothers-in-law, Dr. Jim Ray and wife Cynthia of Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma; and Tom Ray and wife Diana of Fritch; many nieces and nephews; best friend Linda and husband Scott Williams of Port Aransas, Texas; and her beloved four-legged best friend, Fore aka “Puppy.”
