Lois Janell Hughes, 78, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the Minton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rick Timmons officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Cemetery in Canadian.
Lois was born August 20, 1945, in Wheeler, Texas to Tommy Allen and Lillie Mae Shelton Allen. She married Glenn Hughes on August 12, 1971, in Canadian. Lois enjoyed her flower garden, tending to her plants, camping, loving on her cats, watching her chickens, and sewing. She was also known to help Glenn mow. Lois was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nothing brought more joy to her life than being with her family, especially sitting by the pool watching the grandkids swim.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Bailey; father, Tommy Allen; and daughter, Lori Walls.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn of Fritch; sons, Michael Hughes of Plainview, Gary Hughes of Fritch, Robert Hughes of Fritch; daughters, Jenie Gannaway and husband Gene of Fritch, Lucy Clark and husband Stacy of Fritch; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; brother, Ray Allen and wife Terry Jean of Alpine; sisters, Frances Collins and husband John of Isabel, California, Kay Dickey and husband Richard of Amarillo; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
