Louis D. Spires, Jr.

L. D. Spires, Jr., 84, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 15th in The Garden of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Burwash, pastor of Fairlanes Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Spires was born on August 15, 1925 in Breckenridge, TX, He was raised in Borger, served in the U.S. Navy in WW II, and married Melba Hamil on April 24, 1948 in Borger where he worked for DE which was later purchased by Sinclair. He was later transferred to Kermit, TX where he retired from Atlantic Richfield in 1985. He moved to Gardendale,TX until moving to Beggs, OK in 2003.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Melba after 54 years of marriage, parents Louis and Meta Spires and sister Faye Mullins

Survivors include two sons Larry Spires of Odessa, TX, Jacky Spires and wife Sonnya of Spring, TX, five grandsons Josh, Jon, J.J., Carl, and Steven and twelve greatgrandchildren.

The family will be staying at 113 Broadmoor in Borger.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to Stella for being such a special person in Dads life.
