Lyle Owen Peiffer, 68, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 in Amarillo from effects of Agent Orange that he was exposed to during his service in the Vietnam War.
Services will be 1 pm Monday at White Deer First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. His memory may be honored with a gift to the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center, 6010 Amarillo Blvd West Amarillo, Texas 79106 or the Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter St, Amarillo, Texas 79119. The family will receive guests from 15 pm on Sunday at 834 Texas in White Deer.
Lyle was born December 20, 1945 in Phillips to Lee and Eloise Peiffer. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a football referee for the Texas Panhandle.
Lyle was also on the 6162 state championship football team in Dumas. The highlights of his life were his wife, daughter and granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents his mother and fatherinlaw, Bert and Mittie B. Chandler brother, Art Peiffer and his beloved dog, Geronimo.
Survivors include his wife, Joan of the home daughter, Leigh Anne Poole and her husband, Rick of White Deer granddaughters, Nichole and Kendra Poole and sisterinlaw, Mary Jane Smith and her husband, Bob of Lyons.
