Marceline Joy Hicks, 84, of Lebanon, Illinois formerly of Panhandle, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 in Shiloh, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Panhandle with Pastor Josh Light officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a gift to the First Baptist Church Youth Activity Center, PO Box 189, Panhandle, Texas, 79068 or to the St. Jude Medical Center, Heart Valve Division, 1 Lillehei Plaza, St. Paul, Minnesota, 55117.
Joy was born April 20, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Eula Mae Morgan Oden and Hershel Oden. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Panhandle. Joy retired as a school bus driver from Panhandle Independent School District. She enjoyed showing her artistic flair by creating oil paintings and drawing. Joy also enjoyed fishing and sewing. Nothing brought more joy to her life than being with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Brace Hicks.
Survivors include her five children, Lynn LeGate and husband Terry of Panhandle, Tony Lee Hicks and wife Kerri Sue of San Antonio, Cheryl Peterson and husband Douglas of Lebanon, Illinois, Terry Hicks and LeaAnn of Weatherford, Texas, Toby Hicks and wife Beth of Clarendon; sister, Jean Billings; two brothers, Bobby Oden, Don Oden; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family.
