Marcia JoAnne Carter of Panhandle died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving children, Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Panhandle Methodist
Church at 10 o'clock Friday, January 29, 2016 with Dr. Jerry Lane, Pastor of the White Deer Methodist Church and Rev. Randy Thomas, Pastor of the Panhandle Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the funeral home. Memorials in her honor may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 549, Panhandle, Texas 79068.

Marcia was born March 11, 1942 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Dugan Henry Koller and Ora Pearl Nuttall Koller. She graduated from Murray State University and Daviess Co. Hospital School of Nursing in Kentucky. Marcia retired after more than 43 years as a Registered Nurse. She had her Certification in Medical and Surgical Nursing and was a nurse preceptor. Her career included working at The Methodist Hospital, Houston; The McLean Hospital; Parkview Hospital, Wheeler; St. Anthony's Hospital, Northwest Texas Hospital and Crown of Texas Hospice, Amarillo. After retiring, she assisted many families at the Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home, Panhandle.

Marcia married the love of her life, James W. (Butch) Carter on September 27, 1963. They were blessed with three children. They moved to Panhandle in 1974 after having lived in Houston, McLean and Wheeler.

Marcia's children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life-Teresa JoAnne Ferguson and husband, David of Eden, Utah; Telena Michele Shubert and husband, Karl of Maxwell, NM; Ernie James Carter and wife, Michelle of Arlington, TX; and eight grandchildren-- Kyle Ferguson and Jesee Ferguson of Eden, Utah; Dustin Shubert of Parachute, CO; Kevin Shubert of Maxwell, NM; Ryan Shubert and wife, Olivia of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Katie Shubert of Maxwell, NM; Christopher Carter and Brittany Carter of Arlington, TX; one great-grandson, Carter Shubert. She is also survived by three brothers-Herschel Koller and wife, Winnie of Owensboro, KY; Jerry Koller and wife, Gladys of Philpot, KY; Clyde Koller and wife Betty Lou of Philpot, KY; sister-in-law, Betty Ann Koller of Owensboro, KY; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Butch, on March 6, 1987; her parents; and her brother, Henry Koller.

The legacy of Marcia's kind, gentle spirit and her passion for caring for those in need will truly live through all those she touched.
