On January 3rd, 2019, Marcus Herbert Cantrell, Jr. was welcomed into heaven by Christ Jesus our Lord. He is reunited with his wife, Christina, his parents Marcus Sr. and Magdalene, his brother Russell and his sister Janice. He is survived by two sisters, JoAnn Stearns of Odessa, TX and Betty Howard of Mesquite, TX.
Marcus was born on June 18th, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Borger at a young age. Mark married Christina Grogan, December 29th, 1950 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Amarillo, TX. He worked for J.M. Huber for forty-two years and was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church.
Mark left this life surrounded by his children, Kathleen Berry and husband, Bob, Mary Lewellyn and husband, Rocky, Kevin Cantrell and wife, Carol, Gerald Cantrell and wife, Tish, Helena Ambrose and husband, James, David Cantrell and wife, Paula, Suzie Casida and husband, Tom, John Cantrell and wife, Shelly, Patricia Bonner and husband, Alan, Teresa Lusk and husband, Jim, Jeannie Perigo and husband Chris, Angela Goodwin and husband Rod, and Julie Wood and husband, Danny.
He was blessed with thirty-six grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
A rosary will be held at St. John Catholic Church on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am officiated by Mark's nephew Monsignor Michael Colwell of Amarillo and Father Jim Schmitmeyer.
