“Margie”

Margaret Joyce Massey (Sage)

Nov 30, 1939 – Jan 6, 2024

Aged 84 years, 1 month, 6 days.

Margie was born in Boyne City Michigan November 30, 1939 to Newton and Dorothy Sage, and she had 2 older sisters, Phyllis Massey and Arlene Prawdzik.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and the love of her life, Arne Massey. They married September 1, 1962, then building a home together in Boyne Falls. They worked many years together at McLaren Hospital when it was Little Traverse Hospital and Northern Michigan Hospital. She lovingly cared for Arne until his death in 2012 having been married for nearly 50 years.

She is survived by her 3 Children, Jeffrey Massey of Boyne Falls, Susan Stark & husband Clarence of Boyne City, and Diane Blackwelder & husband Spencer of Borger, Texas.

She so loved her grandchildren, Breann Good and husband Zachary, Andrew Massey, Travis Stark and wife Rachael, Derick Stark, Joshua Blackwelder & wife Jiali, Caleb Blackwelder & wife Dana, Adam Blackwelder & wife Rebecca.

She had great joy for her great grandchildren Alexander, Audrey, Carter, and River.

Margie had many interests including crocheting, ceramics, gardening, and feeding the birds. Her favorite birds were Cardinals and hummingbirds. She loved nature and every animal except squirrels. She loved searching for deals at thrift shops and rummage sales, as well as cutting coupons.

She moved to Borger, Tx in 2017. She volunteered with the Hutchinson County Historical Museum where she made many new friends.

Margie obeyed the Gospel on July 13, 2017, and faithfully attended the Franklin and Juniper St church of Christ.

Anyone that greeted Margie with a “how are you” would hear her reply, “Fine as Frogs Hair Split in the Middle, and that’s Pretty Fine!”

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Caprock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she spent her final year due to the effects of dementia. We also want to express our gratitude to the wonderful friends of BSA Hospice who made sure she was comfortable.

The family will welcome friends on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Minton-Chatwell Funeral directors in Borger. Final internment will he held later this spring in Boyne Falls, Michigan.
