Margaret Loretta Womble Ruttman, 81, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021.
Graveside services will be held 10 am on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in Lieb Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to the Hansford County Library, 122 Main Street, Spearman, Texas, 79081.
Margaret was born March 20, 1940 in Borger to A.C. “Kid” Womble and Edith Smith Womble. She was the valedictorian of her 1958 class at Morse High School. An extremely intelligent woman, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in education from West Texas State College in 1962.
Margaret worked as a business teacher at various places including Springlake-Earth, Spearman, Ralls, and Follett. She retired from teaching in 2002 and began part time work at the Hansford County Library. Margaret eventually became the library director, a position that she retired from earlier this year.
She collected typewriters, apple themed knickknacks, and enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts. Margaret was special to her nieces and nephews. They recall festive dinners Aunt Margaret prepared and the fun she orchestrated during back to school shopping expeditions.
She is preceded in death by her parents, A.C. “Kid” and Edith Womble; and son, Rhett Ruttman.
Survivors include her daughter, Rashell Lemmons and husband David of Roxborough Park Colorado; daughter-in-law, Audra Ruttman of Amarilllo; grandchildren, Jacob Lemmons, Shelby Calhoun and Kelsey Calhoun; brother, Tom Womble and wife Mary Jane of Houston; sister, Carolyn Shields of Pringle; and a host of extended family.
