Margie Smith

Margie L. Smith, 90, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Margie was born March 31, 1927 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Henry Dearing and Betty Mooneyhan Dearing. She married James Wesley Smith on May 9, 1943 in Hugo, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death in 1984. Margie attended Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed her time with her friends when they attended her ceramic painting classes. Margie then went on to succeed as an interior designer. Playing with her dog, Freckles was one of her favorite pastimes, however, nothing brought more joy to her life than her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and fourteen siblings.

Survivors include her sons, James Wesley Smith, Jr. and Cindy of Belton, Texas, Harry Smith and wife, Denise of Benton, Arkansas; daughter, Phyllis Mitchell and husband, Jasper of Borger; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Mitchell, Michelle Robbins, Cristi Jones, Donna Payte, Steven Smith, Audrey Hensley, Stephanie Challis, Roger Braudrick, Heath Smith; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Lenna Norton and husband, Clayton of Borger.
