Mary Lorene Braidfoot, 81, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at her home.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12th, at the First Baptist Church in Panhandle with Rev. Joe Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mrs. Braidfoot was born May 23, 1927 in Wellington, TX to William Marion and Ollie Mae Mitchell. She married Eldon Ray Braidfoot on November 17, 1950 in Clovis, NM. She was a resident of Panhandle since 1957 coming from Hall County. Lorene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Panhandle, and the 55 Club. She also worked in home health care and had worked at Garretsons Retirement Center. She was a caring, compassionate person who loved her family and her church, and her grandsons Ben and Bo were the special joys in her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eldon Ray Braidfoot in 1983, three sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors include a daughter Kathy Horst and husband Greg of Lubbock; a son Randy Braidfoot and wife Margie of Panhandle; two sisters Vernie Watson of Happy, Reba Carman of Lubbock; two sister-in-laws Ann Mitchell of Stratford, and Thresea Mitchell of Amarillo; two grandsons Ben and Bo Braidfoot of Panhandle, and her boys, Rick and Rod Partain. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
