Mary W. Hart, 76, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Panhandle with Rev. Joe Zimmerman, pastor officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Mrs. Hart was born on May 22, 1934 in Hemphill County, TX and had lived in the Panhandle community for 32 years. She met her husband Robert Warren Hart when he was a city police officer in Canadian and chief deputy in Hemphill Co. and also Carson Co. Mary was the municipal judge for the city of White Deer for fifteen years and she worked as the jailor and dispatcher for the Carson County Sheriffs department. Mary volunteered at the Cross in Groom, was a member of the Lions Club and Senior Citizens in White Deer. She enjoyed quilting, Bible studies and loved to draw, especially pencil drawings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Warren Hart, parents Clint Annie B. Wright, sisters Maxine Richards, Mildred Sanders, Sharon Pitcock, brothers Jack Wright Walter Wright.
She is survived by her son Terry Smith and wife JoAnn of Guthrie, OK, two daughters Sherry Ivy of Houston, Jean Hardman and husband Sace of Panhandle, brother Larry Wright and wife Marie of Deming, NM, three sisters Margaret Dowdy and husband Glen of Amarillo, JoAnn Stovall and husband Lewis and Sandra Griffin all of San Marcos, five grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren.
