Mary Jo JoJo Mars, 85, died Friday, March 13, 2009 in Borger. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Terry Stegall of Grace Fellowship Church and Denis Melton of Borger assisting. Interment will follow in The Garden of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Casket bearers will be Charlie Billington, Jerry Billington, Marlin Thomas, Danny Stottlemeyre, Russell Mars and Travis Roden.
Mary was born April 20, 1923 in Olustee, Ok to Elmer and Florence Billington. She married John L. Mars on February 8, 1941 in Tulia and then they moved to Borger the same year. She was a homemaker and loved her family, church, traveling and her dog.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband on 10-13-2003, a grandson Dean Thomas on 05-28-2001, a granddaughter Alishia Osborn on 04-17-1964, a great, great granddaughter Birkelle Brooke Thomas on 11-11-2008, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter Pat Thomas of Borger and husband Ronnie; her son John S. Mars and wife Debbie of Borger; 3 grandsons David Thomas and wife Kay Lynn of Conroe, TX, Jared Thomas of Lewisville, TX and Russell Mars and wife Liz of Borger; 6 granddaughters Renee Stahlhut and husband William of The Colony, TX, Kathy Landrum of Borger, Gena Raby and husband Glenn of Mangum, OK, Kristi Karnes, Jennifer Mars and Leslie Mars all of Borger; 19 great grandchildren Derek Thomas and Hunter Thomas of Conroe, TX, Jeremy Thomas and wife Sommer of Borger, Brittany Thomas of Borger, Mikayla and Brittany Stahlhut of The Colony, TX, Kara Thomas, Derek Landrum, Megan Landrum and Michael Landrum all of Borger, Destiny Raby, Derrick Raby and Ashley Raby all of Mangum, OK, Cheyenne Mars, Esperanza Munoz and Luna Munoz all of Borger, Jessica Karnes and Kaylee Karnes, Adrian Gonzales all of Borger and one great-great grandson Breckyn Thomas of Borger.
Family request that memorials be made to the Hospice of the Southwest or First United Methodist Church Local Missions.
The family will be staying at 1510 Balin.
