Mary Von Dean Smith, 77, of Dumas died Friday, August 28, 2009 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger, with Chaplain C.W. Parker, of Odyssey Healthcare officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park cemetery. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mary was born April 28, 1932 in Stinnett to Richard Frank and Winnie Maude Dean, and was raised in Borger. On July 6, 1948 she married Floyd Clinton Smith in Borger. Floyds job with Phillips took them to Dumas where she spent 44 years.
Survivors include 2 sons Robert Smith and wife Terri of Bonaire, Georgia, David Smith of Amarillo; 3 daughters Annie Kepley and husband Jimmy of Amarillo, Terry Curtis and husband Danny of Waynoka, Oklahoma, Mary Ernst and husband Norm of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 2 sisters Francis Patterson of Pampa, Betty Gilchrest of Skellytown; 8 grandchildren James, John, and Yvonne Kepley, Amanda Thorp, Jeremiah Dubiel, Daniel Curtis Jr, Andy Smith, Danielle Smith; and 4 great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers Oscar, Odell, and Richard; 3 sisters Bessie Phillips, Maude Williams, Virginia Cargill.
