Maurice Pettit

Maurice Pettit, 88, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Graveside services will be held 1 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Westlawn Memorial Park with Mr. Jeremy Vass officiating.  Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.  In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Maurice was born September 29, 1932 in Wheeler, Texas to Shelby Pettit and Grace Young Pettit.  He married Norma Young on November 10, 1959 in Borger.  Maurice proudly served in the United States Navy.  He retired from Phillips and was a member of the Church of Christ at Borger. Maurice enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Grace Pettit; wife, Norma Pettit; son, Paul “Sandy” Pettit; and brother, Carrol Pettit.

Survivors include his daughter, Marlene Smoot and husband Richard of Round Rock; grandchildren, Braden Smoot and wife Ashley, Amanda Smoot; and great grandchildren, Jase and Jonah.
