Maurine Rhoton, 94, longtime resident of Borger, died Sunday August 7, 2016 in Tennessee. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, at Minton Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Conny Moore of Bunavista Baptist Church officiating. . Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Maurine was born in Hamlin, TX to Chil Lottie (Smith) and William Edward Griffin on January 7, 1922. She married T.J. Rhoton on November 4, 1938 in Roby, TX. Maurine was a homemaker and moved to Tennessee in February of 2016. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
Maurine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter, Virginia Shull, son James Rhoton, and grandson Tommy Cook, one brother and two sisters.
She is survived by her grandsons, Terry Rhoton of Tennessee, T.J. Cook or Maryland; granddaughter, Mary Ann Stinson of Tennessee; great-grandchildren Kristin Cook, Danielle Cook, Eric Cook, Senan Rhoton, Desirae Rhoton and one great-great-grandchild Jorie Clark.
