Max Maurice McKinney went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 16, 2013 in Borger. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hutchinson, Pastor officiating. Interment will be at the Panhandle Cemetery with Pastor Ron Pettet of Fossil Creek Community Church in Fort Worth officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Max was born on January 28, 1934 in Sterlington, LA to Albert Jefferson McKinney and Francis Mae Herlevich McKinney. He married LaParis Williams in Raton, NM, they then lived in Borger where Max delivered mail for the U. S. Postal Service for 38 years. He retired when he turned 55 years old. Max and LaParis were longtime members of Faith Covenant Church where he served on the Board of Elders. They now attend Calvary Baptist Church.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Jennifer Kennedy and his brother Billy Joe McKinney.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years LaParis, two daughters Angie Lewellyn and husband Mike of Amarillo and Joy Beth Fleming and husband Randy of Hurst, TX, four granddaughters Tia Lewellyn, Hannah Akin, Sarah McPherson and Madison Kennedy, two grandsons Tyler Lewellyn and Cutter Kennedy, his brother Mike McKinney of Borger, two sisters Sue Nesbitt and Frieda Kelm both of Plainview and his soninlaw James Kennedy of Amarillo.
The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
