It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Max D. Myers, 91, of Amarillo, Texas on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Rosary will be Monday, April 21, 2025, at 6:00 pm in the Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Borger, Texas on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 201 St. John's Rd., Borger, Texas, 79007.
Max was born August 10, 1933, in Effingham, Illinois to Lula and John Myers. He married Donna Engle from Teutopolis, Illinois in 1952, and then moved to Borger, Texas to work for Phillips Petroleum Company at the Borger Refinery. In 1953, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. After serving his country he returned and continued working for Phillips for a total of 36 years. Also, after returning from Korea, he continued serving in the Texas National Guard for 30 years. He was also an Honorary Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Borger. Max spent countless hours working at the church doing anything that was needed. He and his wife Donna loved to travel after retiring in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents, Lula and John; his 12 siblings; and his granddaughter, Kylee Jo Myers.
Survivors include his sons, David and his wife Patti of Glen Rose, Texas, Danny and his wife Jody of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Tamara Blakely and her husband Merle of Amarillo, Texas; grandsons, Brian Myers and his wife Melissa, Lane Myers, Paul Blakely and his wife Cassandra, Caleb Blakely, Nathan Blakely, Duane Myers; granddaughters, Clarice Myers, Andee Faye Myers, Hannah Lesley and her husband Kelley; and great granddaughters, Karsyn, Genevieve, and Julietta.
