Maxine Walker Brown, a longtime resident of Borger and Amarillo, died February 7, 2016, about 7:20 p.m. She was born March 1, 1930 in Ada, OK and lived in that area until the family moved to Borger in 1943. Memorial services will be at Craig Methodist Windflower, Violet Commons Area, with Chaplain Lane Boyd officiating, at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 11; followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Borger officiated by Pastor Pam Lehman.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, A.W. (Pat) and Vera Walker of Borger, three husbands, W. H. Goins, Raoul Brown, and Roy Bulls.
She is survived by her brother, Dwayne Walker and his wife, Nancy of Houston, their children David, his wife Mindy of Houston and their children, Ben and Kaylee; Stacy Boe and husband, Robert of Dallas and their children Nathan and Connor; and by many relatives. She was known affectionately as "Aunt Mac" to these loving family members.
Maxine graduated from Borger High School, Frank Phillips College and West Texas State University. She started working at FPC in 1948 and continued there until her retirement. She played an integral part in the establishment and development of the college, where she served as Bursar, secretary to President J.W. Dillard and later as his Assistant. The college named the Women's Dorm (Maxine Goins Hall) in recognition of her contributions.
Maxine was very active in area and state business groups, holding offices in many of these organizations. After her retirement she became a Mary Kay Representative where she excelled in sales. She continued to enjoy this phase of her career until she fell ill in 2008. She loved to travel, having been to 45 of our 50 states, and to over 28 countries around the world.
