Mergie Kent

Mergie O. Kent, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 16, 2018 in the Minton Memorial Chapel with Mr. Jake Minton officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the funeral home.

Mergie was born September 11, 1923 in Olney, Oklahoma to Julius H. Lawrence and Lillie M. Davidson Lawrence. She married John Patrick Kent on November 8, 1941 in Ada, Oklahoma. Mergie worked for JC Penney for 17 years. In her younger years she enjoyed going golfing and bowling. She also enjoyed doing crafts.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, John Edward Kent; and eight brother and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, John Kent of Borger; son, Travis Kent and wife Roberta of Georgia; daughter, Beverly McCarthy of Borger; grandchildren, Steven Reid Kent, Stephen McCarthy and wife Lynn, Keverly Kent, Stephany Holland and husband Stacey, Brady Kent; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Etta Lou Basket of Oklahoma and Vivian Simmons of California.
