Michael Jesse Steinkoenig, 68, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on February 16, 2019, at Minton Memorial Chapel located at 314 S. Hedgecoke Street in Borger, and family will receive friends at his childhood home at 1423 Cooley in Borger following the service. Arrangements are by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mike was born in Amarillo to Janelle Womble Steinkoenig and Leo Richard Steinkoenig on November 16, 1950, and graduated from Borger High School in the class of 1969.
Described as a prankster and lover of all pies, Mike was a giver to all and taker from none. His love of travel took him on several mission trips to Israel, Belarus, and many other parts of the world in which he always had to know the new friend's story. Mike's bond with his many friends from Borger High School, Odessa Junior College, the Kappa Alpha Order at West Texas University, and his spiritual family remained strong throughout his life. His quick smile let you know he was always happy to see you and ready to help no matter the task.
He is survived by his daughter Erica Anderson and grandchildren Rich and Libby of Amarillo. He is also survived by children who he loved as his own, daughter Margaret Parrish of Borger and grandchildren Morgan, Madison, MaryPaul, and Maya of Amarillo, son Holden Parrish of Pocatello, Idaho, daughter Kelly Harz of Amarillo and grandchildren Kailey and Mark, and son Alan and wife Bokerah Brumley, of Cisco, and their children Enoch, Pinehas, Eli, Haddie, and Benny.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother Janelle Steinkoenig, father Leo Steinkoenig, and brothers Rick Steinkoenig and Pat Steinkoenig.
Mike asked that in lieu of memorials, please take some time to read a book to a young child.
