Mildred Johnson

Mildred Pitts Evans Johnson, 87, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Word of Life Church with Pastor Norman Shuman officiating. Interment will be in Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mildred was born on August 16, 1923 in Wolcott, Colorado and had been a Borger resident for 67 years. She graduated from the Pampa Beauty School in 1960, and was over distribution of the Daily Oklahoman from 1952 thru 1959. She was a hairdresser for 32 years and had worked at Gaylenes, Continental, His Hers and Janells. She and her former husband were pastors of Bibleway Church in Borger. She married Tommy Johnson on April 5, 1997 in Borger. She loved scrapbooks, keeping up with local happenings and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jefferson Nellie Ray, brothers, Bob Ray and Chester Christian, and her husbands, Joe Ray Pitts and Robert Evans.

Mildred is survived by her husband Tommy Johnson of the home, son Larry Pitts of Cedar Hills, TX, daughter Carol Pitts Giordano of El Paso, two grandchildren Meagan Pitts and Sean Pitts and several stepgrandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Lung Association.
