Gale Hawkeye Murphy, 74, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in Borger at Golden Plains Community Hospital.BRBRServices will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Ridling, Pastor of Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Pampa under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.BRBRHawkeye was born July 28, 1933 in Roswell, New Mexico. He was a 1952 graduate of Borger High School, was an avid treasure hunter and wrote about historical sites. He was a welder for Phillips Petroleum Co. Hawkee was a registered Cherokee Indian and was a member of The First Families of the Cherokee Nation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma Murphy, brother Ernest in 1991 and son Loren in 2002.BRBRHe is survived by his wife, Waunell Murphy of the Home, son - Kevin Murphy of Borger, two daughters - Lanesa Washburn husband Mark of Gruver, Cheryl Vaughn husband Curtiss of Canton, Tx, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. BRBRCasket bearers will be John Ridling, Andy Jett, Herschel Moffitt, David Arthur, Ronnie Shank and Ralph Pumphrey.
