Murry Ray Jennings, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 am on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Celebration Family Church with Pastor Ricky Griffin of Trinity Fellowship Church officiating. Graveside service will be held at 4 pm in Blair Cemetery in Blair, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the Opportunity Center, PO Box 5032, Borger, Texas 79008.
Murry was born October 22, 1926 in Blair, Oklahoma to James Leon Jennings and Robbie Lucille Holiday Jennings. He proudly served in the United States Army. Murry married Laquita Joyce Jones or "Joycie Baby" as he affectionately called her, on August 2, 1947 in Vernon, Texas.
He worked as a foreman for Hutchinson County Precinct 1, he also served as the County Commissioner road foreman. Murry was a member of the North Texas Southwestern Oklahoma Fox and Wolf Association in Quanah, Texas, Hutchinson County Sheriff Posse of which he was the last charter member. He also helped build the Sheriff Posse Arena, the soccer fields, the concrete wall between the old hospital and the pharmacy, and helped landscape at the dome. Murry also served on the Board of Regents at Frank Phillips College and on the appraisal board.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Jennings; son, Tim Jennings; great granddaughter, Dallie Dawn Jennings; great grandson, Brody Joe Jennings.
Survivors include his sons, Mike Jennings and wife, Deborah of Borger, Jerry Jennings and wife, LaDonna of Sayre, Oklahoma; daughter, Linda Skiles and husband, Ed of Fort Smith Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, Shawn Skiles, Jeremiah Skiles and wife, Cassie, Shannon Ingle and husband Bret, Nathaniel Jennings and wife LaRhonda, Matt Jennings, Dannielle Lewis and husband Carroll Jack, T.J. Jennings and wife Nikki, Micha French and husband Travis, Mark Jennings and wife Megan, Misty Williams and husband Tyrone; eighteen great grandchildren; special friend, Blanche Gipson; and a host of extended family.
