Nancy Louise Hankins, 86, of Canyon, formerly of Borger , died on July 29, 2008.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 1st at Bunavista Baptist Church in Borger with Andy Mangum, grandson-in-law, officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Devotion Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Louise was born in Grayson Co., Texas , on November 3, 1921 to John Walter and Dellar B. Earl and was one of eleven children. She lived in and around Whitesboro and went to school in Southmayd and Sadler . She married Ralph Hankins, also of the Whitesboro area, on November 2, 1940. They moved to Borger in 1943 for Ralph to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. They brought their daughter, Darlene, and a son, Jerry Don, was born in 1945. They lived in Bunavista until 1958 and then moved into Borger . Louise and her family were active members in the Bunavista Baptist Church and made life-long friends there. She was a homemaker; a loving wife and mother, a seamstress, great cook, and grandmother. She was Nanny to her grandchildren and Nanny Hanks to her greatgrandchildren. At one time she also worked for Phillips and another time she worked for Dr. Rex Prewit.
She had lived in Canyon for the past 2 12 years and had made good friends at Hudson House.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph, in 1995; her parents, John Walter and Dellar B. Earl; two brothers, Emmett F. Earl and J.W. Earl; four sisters, Beulah Mae Akin, Mozelle Hazelwood, Ruby Linsteadt, and Nina Fay Ford, and one son-in-law, Carl Hollabaugh.
Survivors are: a daughter, Darlene Hollabaugh of Canyon and a son, Jerry Hankins and his wife, Winna, of Lake Kiowa . Grandchildren are: Scott Hollabaugh of Canyon, Becky Crane and husband, Charlie, of McKinney ; Lori Mangum and her husband, Andy, of Grand Prairie and Emily Westbrook and her husband, Paul, of McKinney . Great-grandchildren are: Madison, Andrew, and Joshua Mangum of Grand Prairie ; Austin , Carly, Katy, and Cassidy Crane of McKinney ; and Hunter and Addison Westbrook of McKinney . Also surviving are: one brother, C.W. Earl of Wilmington , Illinois , and three sisters, Arietta Ders of Oak Lawn, Illinois, Zora Lea Streib of Rockford, Illinois, and Billie Earl of Sherman , Texas . She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to Bunavista Baptist Church 2 Amaryllis Street Borger, TX 79007 or to BSA Hospice Box 950 Amarillo, TX 79106.
A family visitation is scheduled for 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at MintonChatwell Funeral Home in Borger.
