Nettie Geneva Howard, 83, of Borger went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 14, 2012. She was born November 6, 1928 in Checotah, Oklahoma to James Oliver and Susie Plemons Chronister. She graduated from Checotah High School and then attended cosmetology school in Muskogee, Oklahoma where she later became a beauty instructor for 3 years.
She married Thomas W. Howard September 20, 1947 in Mcintosh County, Oklahoma. They moved to Borger, Texas in 1948. She owned and operated Genevas Beauty Salon for 24 years before retiring in 1984. She was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Geneva was a long time, faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, son Thomas Leo Howard, two sisters, and four brothers.
Geneva is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 65 years Thomas W. Howard, her two sons, Stanley Howard and wife Marsha of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Ronald Howard and wife Joy of Fritch. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Stacy Ashbrook and husband Doug of Patillo, Jason Howard and wife Ladonna, Tim Howard, Amie Savage and husband Dean all of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Melissa Schick and husband Darren of Fritch, Kristi Moore and husband Johnny of Amarillo, Adam Morris and Wife Anna of Piedmont, Oklahoma, twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hutchison, Pastor and Rev. Brad Foster, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
