Novella "Nonee" Vance, 90, died Thursday August 5, 2021 in Claude. Public graveside service will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Panhandle Cemetery with Dr. Jerry Lane officiating. Private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Conway Community Church under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. The family will receive guests from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Hazlewood Building in Panhandle.
Novella was born November 2, 1930 in Conway to Otis Weatherly and Florence Marie Calliham Weatherly. She attended school in Conway until she reached high school age. She then attended and graduated in 1948 from Panhandle High School. She married the love of her life, Buddy Vance on August 25, 1948 in Panhandle. Nonee learned to cook after she was married and became an excellent cook, she gardened, cooked, sewed, raised chickens and drove the grain truck, although the kids said she never liked doing any of those things. She was great at loving her kids and grandkids and they meant more than anything to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son Timothy Otis Vance in 1975.
Novella is survived by her two sons Gary Vance and his wife Micki and Jimmy Vance both of Panhandle, her daughter Marsha Haseloff and her husband Len of Fritch, Her eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, her two great-great-grandchildren and her sister Zelda Mae Beck of Austin.
