Orvid Collins Jr.

Orvid Lafayette Collins, Jr., 96, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in The Garden of Love at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger with Chaplain Jerry Bell of Park Place in Amarillo officiating.

Memorial Service will be held at Park Place Parlor in Amarillo at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Collins was born on April 8, 1913 in Waggoner County, OK. He was a superintendent of Human Relations at Phillips Petroleum Co. O.L. was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was active in Boy Cub Scouts and was very involved in civic and community projects. He was preceded in death by his daughter - Cheryl Miller in February, 2008.

He is survived by his wife - Mildred Collins of the home, two sons - David Orvid Collins and wife Mona of Amarillo, James Orvid Collins of Lubbock, son-in-law - Oth Miller of Amarillo, brother - Jerry Collins of Florida, six grandchildren - Kelly Miller, Cathy Gracke, Bill Miller, Diana Ellis, Connie Krieger, Kristin Collins and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association.
