Patricia Day, 80, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Church of Christ at Borger. Burial will follow at 3:30 pm in Erick Cemetery in Erick, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the funeral home in Borger. In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a gift to the American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284-0692.
Pat was born July 20, 1943, in Borger to Lawrence Homesley and Jonnie Gordon. She married Jimmie Franklin Day on June 9, 1962, in Borger, Texas. They were married for 52 years before Jim's death in 2014. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Amarillo Southwest Garden Club, Bunco Amarillo and the Amarillo Community Chorus. She graduated from West Texas State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and continued her love for teaching for 10 years at Gateway Elementary in Borger. Nothing brought more joy than her family; she was proudly known as Nanny or Nana not only to her family, but to many others in her life. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother in law and friend to all. She was the best cheerleader to anyone in her family that desired to continue their higher education. To know her was to truly love her. She was a strong woman with a huge heart, and a true child of God. Her unwavering faith reminded others that nothing is more powerful than prayer and nothing is greater than God.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Jonnie Homesley; husband, Jimmie F. Day; and son, Gregory Day.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Arnold and husband Joel of Amarillo; son, James Day of Howardwick; six grandchildren, Rachel Day, Bryan Day and wife Catie, Christopher Day, Meghan Kitts and husband Trevor, Emily Arnold, Joshua Arnold; Ten great grandchildren, Jacob, Katie, Easton, Alice, Malorie, Marleigh, McKenna, Ethan, Connor, Claire; sister, Sue Hogue of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and a host of extended family and friends.
